Playfield insets were installed in the playfield blank(No Graphics). On newer games, the playfield inserts have a number stamped on the insert. The number reflects which cavity in the mold the insert came from, this number is used for quality control in-case there is an issue with the insert. Some of the older/original playfield inserts we sell don't have the cavity number, the inserts we have remade will have the cavity number(as indicated below) -You can sand the cavity number off and then polish the insert. After the inserts are inserted in the playfield, the entire playfield is sanded, which removes the cavity number. The playfield is then silk screened(Artwork applied), it is also applied to the inserts.Thus the only inserts with artwork are the ones in playfields.
